The Easter Season concludes every year with the Feast of Pentecost and Ordinary Time begins immediately the following morning.  However, the Sundays following Pentecost do not seem like Ordinary Time.  Instead of the usual green for this season white and gold vestments are used first for the Feast of the Most Holy Trinity and then for the Feast of Corpus Christi.
It is as if it takes some effort to come down from the heights of Easter and so Holy Mother Church responds giving us these two feasts immediately following the
Easter Season.  Today’s feast in honor of the Body and Blood of Christ gives us an opportunity to reflect on this mystery and to thank God for it.  Remember that a mystery in the context of the faith is a revealed Truth and not a problem to be solved.  Sometimes all we can do when faced with these mysteries is to be in awe and to praise God for His goodness. It is good to do this with the Most Holy Body and Blood of Jesus.  Below is the Anima Christi, an ancient prayer that reflects the beauty and awe of the power of the Eucharist:
 
Soul of Christ, sanctify me.
Body of Christ, save me.
Blood of Christ, inebriate me.
Water from the side of Christ, wash me.
Passion of Christ, strengthen me.
O good Jesus, hear me.
Within your wounds, hide me.
Let me never be separated from you.
From the malignant enemy, defend me.
In the hour of my death, call me,
And bid me come to you,
That with your saints I may praise you
Forever and ever.
Amen.


Cada año el Tiempo de Pascua concluye con la celebración de la Fiesta de Pentecostés y el Tiempo Ordinario comienza el día siguiente.  Pero esto no se refleja en los primeros domingos de Tiempo Ordinario siguiendo la Pascua.  En vez del verde que se usa en esta temporada se usan ornamentos blancos y dorados primero para la Fiesta de La Santísima Trinidad y después para la Fiesta de Corpus Christi.  Parece ser que no queremos soltarnos de las alturas del Tiempo de Pascua y así que nuestra Santa Madre la Iglesia nos presenta estas dos celebraciones grandes.  La fiesta de hoy en honor al Cuerpo y la Sangre del Señor nos da la oportunidad de reflexionar sobre este misterio y darle gracias a Dios por él.  Hay que recordar que en el contexto de la fe un misterio es un Realidad revelada por Dios y no un rompecabezas que hay que resolver.  A veces cuando nos enfrentamos con un misterio nuestra respuesta es simplemente admiración y alabanza a Dios por Su bondad.  A esto nos llama el misterio del Cuerpo y la Sangre de Cristo.  Aquí está el Anima Christi, una oración antigua que reflexiona la hermosura y
esplendor del poder de la Eucaristía:
 
Alma de Cristo, santifícame
Cuerpo de Cristo, sálvame
Sangre de Cristo, embriágame
Agua del costado de Cristo, lávame
Pasión de Cristo, confórtame
Oh buen Jesús, óyeme
Dentro de tus llagas, escóndeme
No permitas que me separe de Tí
Del maligno enemigo, defiéndeme
En la hora de mi muerte, llámame
Y mándame ir a Tí
Para que con Tus santos Te alabe
Por los siglos de los siglos.
